How to manage imported gift card vouchers

Updated this week

Imported gift cards

For imported gift cards, only the remaining value at the time of import is imported.

The “initial value” field in Smeetz reflects this remaining balance snapshot, not the original purchase amount, due to import limitations.

Field definitions:

  • Initial value: For imported gift cards, this is the remaining balance at the time of import.

  • Remaining value: Shows the real-time available balance and updates as the gift card is used.

  • Ticket value: The ticket price set in Smeetz (e.g. £100).

  • Bonus value: Automatically calculated as initial value - ticket value. It represents the amount the customer gains if the value of the gift card is higher than its purchase price. In the case of the import, this value is not relevant.

Important:
For imported gift cards, the PDF ticket will show only the remaining value at the time of import (under the “value” field). If purchases were made before the PDF was issued, they won’t appear in the PDF.

Gift cards sold via Smeetz

For gift cards sold directly through Smeetz:

  • The initial value matches the configured ticket value.

  • The ticket value matches the configured ticket price.

  • The bonus value matches the difference between the value and the price.

  • The PDF ticket reflects the full original value.

Additional Notes:

  • Gift cards can only be sold at fixed amounts.

  • If you need additional denominations (e.g. other than £100), you’ll need to create new gift card products.

  • If you want to offer a specific discount to a customer, use a unique promo code.

  • It is not possible to manually adjust the value of an issued gift card
