How to set up the receipt printer on the point of sale

Set up and connect your ticket printer to the Smeetz POS system.

1. Install the printer

First, install your thermal receipt printer by following one of these guides :

2. Set the receipt printer

The example below is done with the BTP printer, you can follow the same steps for the Epson printer.

The receipt printer is the printer set as default.

  1. Set the correct printer as the default printer in your Windows settings :

  2. Make sure that “Let Windows manage my default printer” is disabled

  3. Select the printer you want to use as a receipt printer and click on Manage

  4. Click on Set as default button

3. Test the receipt printer

To print a receipt, you must use the desktop Smeetz POS App The printer will not work if accessing the POS via an internet browser or back-office.

Step 1: Open the POS app

Step 2: Make a test transaction

  • Create a simple order.

  • Apply a cash payment.

  • On the final page, click "Print""Only receipts".

  • A receipt should be printed.

Note that you can adjust the POS settings if you want the receipt to be printed automatically or manually.

Remember, your cash drawer is connected to your receipt printer.
You can adjust in the settings whether the drawer opens automatically or not.

However, if the receipt printer is turned off or disconnected, the cash drawer will not open, even if correctly configured.
