How to log in to your point of sale with a PIN

Sign in to the Smeetz point of sale (POS) with a personal PIN instead of typing your email and password every time, so shifts change faster and every action is recorded under the right person.

1. What PIN login is

PIN login lets each team member sign in to the POS with a short personal code. Any user with a full email and password login sets the device up once; after that, staff switch in and out with their own PIN. Everything done at the till is attributed to the person whose PIN was used, so you keep clear, per‑person records.

2. Set up a device for the first time

The first login on a device can be done by any user with an email and password, and only needs to be done once.

  1. On the POS device, sign in with your email and password.

  2. Select the venue you are working in.

  3. The device is now ready. Your team can sign in with their PIN from now on.

📌 How to access: open the Smeetz POS app on the device.

3. Log in with your PIN (staff)

Once the device has been set up:

  1. On the POS, tap Log in with PIN.

  2. Enter your personal PIN (the one Smeetz emailed you). If you do not have it, ask your manager.

  3. You are signed in. Every action you take at the till is recorded under your name.

✅ Tip: keep your PIN private. It identifies your actions at the till.

4. Create and manage PINs (manager)

Every existing POS user already has a PIN. We generated one for each person and emailed it to them, so they can sign in straight away. Managers can view, change, or remove any PIN in the Back Office, and create a PIN for new team members.

📌 How to access: Back office > Account Details > Team

  • Create a PIN: for a new team member, open the user and set their PIN (existing users already have one).

  • View a PIN: open the user to see their current PIN.

  • Update a PIN: change the code for a user.

  • Delete a PIN: remove PIN access for a user.

Each PIN is unique to one person within your group.

5.POS seller role (for seasonal staff)

Some team members only ever work at the till and do not need a full account. For them you can create a POS seller.

  • First name and last name are required; email is optional easy to add seasonal/temporary sellers with no company email.

  • Signs in with a PIN only; sales and actions are recorded under their name.

  • Since they may have no email, they can't do the first device setup and won't receive their PIN by email someone with a full login sets the device up, and a manager shares the seller's PIN directly.
📌 Back office > Account Details > Team > Create user > POS seller

6. Reset a PIN

Only managers can reset a PIN. Team members cannot change their own PIN.

If someone forgets their PIN, or you think a PIN is no longer private, a manager updates it in the Back Office (section 4). The new PIN works on the next login.

7. If the device asks for email and password again

If a device has no active session, or the session has expired, the POS asks for a full email and password login again. Sign in as in section 2, reselect the venue, and PIN login will work again for your team.
