Setting up a new Smeetz merchant account and POS store in Adyen

Updated over a week ago

What happens on Adyen when a Smeetz Account is created

πŸ’‘ Note: The merchant account name is based on the customer name entered in the Smeetz App.
Merchants only appear once the KYC process has been started.

When a Smeetz account is created on the app and the Smeetz Pay KYC process is initiated, a Merchant Account is automatically generated:

  • An eCommerce store is created under Smeetz_PP_Live.

  • Onsite stores are assigned under the Market POS account.

We maintain a separate Market POS account for each market where we operate. For a new market, a request must be submitted to open a new Market POS account.

How to find a customer store on Adyen

  1. Navigate to Accounts and Balances > Account holders

  2. Select the appropriate Market.

  3. Find the Customer > Open

  4. Go to Stores β€” you will now see both the eCommerce and POS stores.

What to do after ordering terminals for a customer

1. Make the customer store easy to find

  1. Click on Stores > select the POS store ID

  2. In the Store Description, add _[name] for easier identification.

2. Customise the new POS customer store

  1. Open the customer store > POS

  2. Click on Customization

    1. Location: Set the correct fields for the primary and secondary customer language.

    2. Logo: Background for the Terminal

      1. Upload a lightweight PNG image. Request a logo from the customer if needed.

      2. Image size guidelines per terminal:

        1. P400Plus β†’ 320 x 450 px (Max 512 KB).

        2. S1F2 β†’ 720 x 1280 px (Max 1 MB).

        3. AMS1 β†’ 480 x 800 px (Max 1 MB).

  3. Receipts

    1. Confirm with the customer when receipts should be printed.

    2. Enable β€œprompt before printing” to avoid automatic printing of receipts

  4. Hardware

    1. Enable Maintenance during the night to ensure smooth updates and servicing (e.g. at 4am).

  5. Integrations

    1. If the terminal is Standalone, it requires an L2 configuration (Standalone terminals for [Client]).

    2. Enable Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). It allows international customers to pay in their home currency when making a purchase in a country that uses a different currency.

  6. Passcodes

    1. Share the passcodes with the customer.

3. Assign a terminal to a customer store

  1. Make sure you are in the SmeetzSA854 store

    1. For new terminals, the Status is always Inventory and the Store SmeetzSA854.

  2. Once in the right store > go to In-Person Payment > Terminals

  3. Search for the serial number of the terminal you want to set up (e.g., 4059)

    1. To find the serial number, go to the order page

  4. Open the terminal > Click on More Options > Reassign

  5. Select "To Store" > Next

  6. Paste the customer POS Store ID or search by name if it has been personalized (see above)
