Minimum hardware requirements for Smeetz compatibility

This article outlines the technical requirements for customers who wish to use their own hardware with the Smeetz platform.

For the best performance and full support, we recommend using Smeetz-approved devices. However, if you opt for alternative hardware, please ensure that it meets the specifications below.

🌐 Internet requirements

A stable, high-speed connection is essential for smooth system performance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • DSL or cable connection with at least 20 Mbps upload and download

  • Backup connection: 4G/5G dongle in case of disruption

WiFi vs. Ethernet:

  • Ethernet (LAN) is strongly preferred for maximum reliability β€” connect all devices to a local network using network switches

  • If using WiFi, a commercial-grade access point must be used

  • Avoid consumer/home WiFi routers, which are not suitable for business-level data traffic and can cause disconnections and lags

  • OS Version: Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher

  • Target Version: Android 13

  • Architecture: ARMv7 or ARM64

  • Storage: At least 500MB free space

  • RAM: Minimum 4 GB

  • Internet: Required for syncing data, updates, and payment processing

Windows devices

  • OS: Windows 10 or later (64-bit)

  • Architecture: x64

  • Processor: Intel/AMD dual-core or higher

  • RAM: Minimum 8 GB

  • Storage: At least 1 GB free space

  • Permissions: Ability to change installation directory (NSIS enabled)

  • Internet: Required for login, updates, and online features

  • Installation Format: .exe via NSIS installer with interactive setup

Receipt printers

Smeetz Point of Sale and Self-Serve Kiosk support thermal receipt printers that meet the following requirements:

  • <5 years old for compatibility and reliability reasons

  • 80mm paper width

  • Compatible with cash drawers

Cash Drawers

Smeetz Point of Sale connects with cash drawers via the receipt printer.

  • Must connect via RJ12 cable to the receipt printer

Barcode Scanners

  • USB 2D barcode scanners supported

  • Recommended: Datalogic QuickScan 2500, Honeywell 1900

Ticket Printers

  • Supported model: Zebra ZD420
